North Sonar Ultra High Modulus Carbon Foil Drive Mast – UHM80 FDA18
The North Sonar UHM-FD Carbon Mast is the lowest-drag way to run Foil Drive on a North Sonar foil. Built from Ultra High Modulus carbon, it is 25% thinner and has a 14% shorter chord than North's AF80 FD aluminum mast. Drag almost disappears, so you get onto foil faster, glide further once you're up, turn quicker and stretch your battery further.
Integrated Motor Pod at 18cm (FDA18)
The monocoque mast has the motor pod faired directly into it, 18cm from the baseplate. That position keeps the propeller submerged for assisted take-offs while sitting high enough to stay out of the way once you're foiling. The Foil Drive puck comes pre-installed in the pod with fully internal wiring.
Built for Assisted Surf and Downwind
An 80cm ride height makes this mast ideal for electric-assisted prone surf and downwind foiling, while still working across all disciplines. Extreme torsional and bending stiffness gives direct power transfer, efficient pumping and a precise, connected ride.

Compatibility
If you already own a Foil Drive and your motor has a V2 plug with a removable cable, this mast will work with it. North recommends pairing it with the Foil Drive Integrated Mast High Power Motor Set (FD255), which includes the stator, motor, 3-blade propeller and Stubby Cooler propeller cover.
Important: This is the mast only. It does not include a motor. The motor pod is fixed and cannot be removed or moved. The mast requires a complete Foil Drive kit (battery, controller and board mount) to operate. Sonar front wing, fuselage and stabilizer are sold separately.
